Description
March 2026 marks two years of Andy and myself as Co-Editors of Retro Ford Magazine — although we’ve both been involved with the title for many years before that. The time has flown by, and we hope you’ve enjoyed reading the magazine as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together.
With the season almost upon us, you can practically hear the buffers whirring and smell the wax polish in the air. Hopefully you’re getting your cars ready, and here’s hoping for good weather — especially on show days. Our events pages are starting to fill up, so get those diary dates pencilled in. We’ll soon be confirming which events Retro Ford will be attending, so keep an eye out and do come along to say hello and have a chat.

Club Spotlight
This month we shine the light on the Ford Classic and Capri Owners Club (FCCOC) — the official club for fans and owners of the Ford Consul Capri and Ford Classic. Was the Classic Capri the first Capri? Opinions are divided, but we love them all the same.
Features & Builds
-
James Webber brings us two fascinating Classics: Vic Trueman’s Mk3 Cortina Crayford and Phil Potterton’s ’58 100E Anglia — two very different cars, both very welcome on our pages.
-
Rally fans are well catered for with Andrew Scott’s words, alongside photography from Xlerate and our own Andy Ellis, covering the biennial Roger Albert Clark Rally — plenty to read and even more to admire.
-
Following our earlier coverage of the Isle of Man Ford Festival, Mark Scott and Oliver Breeden look back at the 2025 event with a full review.
-
I’ve contributed a feature titled “Scrap to Superb”, telling the story of Conor Kelly’s brave restoration of a Mk4 Cortina P100 that many would have written off, transformed into a stunning, show-winning pick-up built to his own vision.
-
Rob Cheesmur dives into Jason Mellinship’s V8 Capri — registration BND 11T (“Bandit”) — and the story behind its creation.
Readers’ Cars
Rounding out Rob’s section are four superb reader submissions:
-
Detlef Schwarz — Mk1 Granada Coupé
-
Steve Ward — Mk5 Cortina 2.0GL
-
Scott Taylor — Mk2 Fiesta XR2
-
Thomas Gibb — Escort Mk3 Cabriolet
A fine quartet of Ford classics.
Technical & Buying Advice
Rob Hawkins has been busy too, providing a practical technical feature on classic car lighting, along with a straightforward Ford Orion Buyer’s Guide — no frills, just solid guidance if you’re thinking of taking the plunge.
We’re always on the lookout for great cars and great stories.
They don’t need to be multiple show winners — we’re after real people with real retro Fords. If you’ve got something special on the drive, drop us a line. You never know, your car could be in a future issue.
