We have some interesting things for you this month, features include a 1972 MK1 Escort 4 Door Restomod, owned by Steve Roberts who wanted to build his own take on a 4 door and improve their popularity which can be lacking. Also Robert Hamilton who has modified his RS Turbo S1, but you would hardly know it until you heard it going off into the distance, under the skin this is an amazing machine, so a closer look is recommended. As the show season is upon us James Webber has sent us his article about the Duchy Club Charity Run Out, an excellent effort from all in Cornwall.
Bangers & Cash- Restoring Classics, the TV program have done the business with a MK1 Escort, some details of the show are told here but a viewing of the show would be recommended for the full story, catch-up of course. While Escorts are being mentioned we have brought the news about Boreham Motor Works latest revelation, only 24 cars which are being built to exacting standards replicating the Saloon Car Championship-winning 1968 & 69 Alan Mann Racing Ford Escort Mk1 – the first car being available in August, some very lucky people will be able to own one of these special cars.
The Club Reviews continue to explore the clubs out there, the Ford Focus MK1 Preservation Club who are newly formed but already gaining a good part of the Focus community. Hot Rods visited the seaside arena of Skegness for the track action. Rob Hawkins continues his look into buying a classic car, this month the Escort MK1 has fallen under his gaze with a 12 page insight into these cars. Rob Cheesmur continues his series about the “Not 2 Grand” Sierra bakki he is making look like his drawing that he did in the beginning, it is starting to look like he wanted it. Also Rob has continued with the readers cars, the quality of the cars that people have never ceases to surprise. A Project completes Rob’s monthly round up with a Cortina conversion including a Turbo belonging to Marcus De Oliviera .
Ladies in Motorsport, we have 3 for you this month, 2 navigators and an ex Grid Girl who likes fast cars and not afraid to drive them. Next month (August) we have a couple of cars that have both been modified in a very special way and show reports from Ireland and the UK, also an interesting insight into one of the best car builders and preparation guys around, so keep an eye out for all this good stuff.
Take care.
