Mk2 Escort

Ed sounds like a man after our own hearts here at Retro Ford after he emailed us the following: “Thought I would send some info on my current project ­– a Mk2 Escort. It was going to be a quick project but, as usual, it has snowballed a bit.” He wasn’t kidding either! Originally purchased to play around in on the lanes, the plans for Ed’s Mk2 have changed in quite a big way – and we love it!

The Escort is now currently being prepared for use in hill climbing and sprinting as well as hopefully having a crack at the British Drift Championship. What makes this such an epic project is that it has been carried out on a tight budget, on a driveway, without even a garage for shelter! Ed’s fabricated everything himself including slotting in a rather cheeky 20v 4A-GE Toyota lump, which should absolutely fly, especially with plans for a set of funky cams in the not so distant future.

Another work of art worth a mention is the incredible roll-cage, which offers maximum strength should he ever need call upon it. Ed tells us a lot people are moaning about his choice of engine, but he’s confident it will be awesome and with an ETA of around Easter. We can’t wait to see the complete article (no pun intended)!
