Capri 3.0S
Owner: Phil Cruse
Phil sent us over snaps of his immaculate Capri 3.0S, which he’s been hankering after since back in the day, long live the 80’s we say! The Capri was purchased with plenty of history, with numerous juicy pictures from the previous owners over the last twenty-four years, but sadly like any old Ford it had rust in the usual places.Phil got straight to work with a welder spending over one hundred and forty seven hours welding up the Capri, bringing it up to a high standard, before it went in to the booth.
The 3.0-litre Essex lump remains relatively standard with the addition of a pair of unleaded heads courtesy of Burton power along with a brand new manual Weber DGMS, which replaced the knackered old DGAS.
The suspension has also been treated to a full overhaul meanwhile a fresh coat of two-pack was thrown underneath, ensuring the restoration was done to a decent standard. Other than a few bits such as the special vehicle order sticker and dealership rear window stickers being reproduced the car’s now complete, a cracking first restoration in our eyes. Let’s hope Phil carries on enjoying the car for many years to come and with any luck a few more restorations too…
